Trinity Anglican Church was founded in 1785 by United Empire Loyalists.   The Loyalists had sailed to the area from the U.S. on the HMS Atlanta under the command of Admiral Robert Digby.   The original small church had been financed in part by a grant from Admiral Digby.   Loyalists and their descendants are buried in the small graveyard that adjoins the church.

The present building was erected in 1878.   New England architect, Stephen Earle was responsible for the plans and ship builder M.L. Oliver oversaw construction of the wooden interior.

Trinity Anglican, Digby was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1990.
