Holy Trinity Anglican, Winnipeg, Manitoba

Holy Trinity Parish was established in 1868 by Archdeacon John McLean, later Bishop of Saskatchewan.   Winnipeg was then a village of just over 300 inhabitants.   The first church building was completed November 4th, 1868 and enlarged in 1870.   It was quickly outgrown, as was its successor.

The present building was completed in 1884, with a seating capacity of 750.   When this church was built, it was on the outskirts of Winnipeg. Over the past 120 years, the city has grown up and around it.   Holy Trinity now sits in the heart of downtown, next door to the new arena and the new library.

Holy Trinity Anglican Church was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1990.
